Schloss Benrath is a summer pleasure palace, which can be found in Dusseldorf's suburb of Benrath. Building was completed in the early 1770s, after starting some 17 years earlier. The palace is situated in the grounds of a beautiful park by the river and was once home to Prince Carl Theodor von Pfalz-Sulzbach. Today it houses some of the prince's personal art collection, as well as 18th century furniture, the National History Museum, period attractions and information on the history of the area.

This promenade was built in the 1950s to try and improve traffic congestion in Dusseldorf. There are pedestrian paths running for approximately 2 km / 1.5 miles along the river, while cycle paths can be found nearby. The Rheinufer Promenade has become a popular meeting place, with the main attractions including a number of bars offering beer gardens and front terraces, where you can sit and watch the world go by. It is also a great place to come and see the sun setting over the river.
