Dusseldorf Parks and Gardens: View of the Palace Gardens (Hofgarten)If you are simply in the mood for a stroll, then the many parks and gardens within the city of Dusseldorf will be just the ticket.

A great place to wander is the Palace Gardens (Hofgarten), where you will be able to enjoy colourful flowers amongst the statues of famous German people.

Horticulturalists will be able to spend hours within Dusseldorf University Botanical Gardens, while for recreational activities and plenty of open space, both the North Park (Nordpark) and the Rhein Park (Rheinpark) are hard to beat.

The Dusseldorf Botanical Gardens is owned and maintained by the university and largely used for teaching and training. They are however open to the general public and offer a wide variety of flora, including an enormous greenhouse boasting Mediterranean and some tropical species. If you have green fingers, an interest in horticulture and enjoy finding out about plants, the gardens are a must-see.

Dusseldorf Parks and Gardens: Grafenberger Wald - Grafenberg, Dusseldorf, Germany, DE
Grafenberger is a forest which can be found within the city compounds and is a great place to explore with children, hike with friends or simply stroll around on your own. There is a deer park, nature trails and a wide variety of flora and other fauna. The city's race track can be found on the edge of the forest and sees a number of annual race meetings held here.

A huge expanse of traditional parkland, Dusseldorf's North Park is known locally as Nordpark and popular with both residents and visitors alike. Home to numerous walking trails, a huge lake, flower borders, native wildlife and plenty of seasonal interest, the true highlight at North Park is without doubt the impressive Japanese gardens.
